
New York City authorities are investigating after a helicopter crashed into the Hudson River in Jersey City on Thursday afternoon.
Officials with the New York City Police Department (NYPD) confirmed a helicopter was in the water, as of 3:40 p.m.
The New York City Fire Department (FDNY) has divers in the water and the NYPD’s Harbor Unit is searching as well, according to the New York City Mayor’s Office.

“Due to a helicopter crash in the Hudson River, in the vicinity of the West Side Highway and Spring Street, expect emergency vehicles and traffic delays in the surrounding areas,” according to a statement from the NYPD.
The U.S. Coast Guard told Fox News it has established a safety zone around the area and has three units on scene.
The three Coast Guard boats are from Station Kings Point, Station New York and Station Sandy Hook.
The City of Hoboken Fire Department’s Marine 1 is on the scene.
Hoboken Fire Department is assisting along with the Jersey City Police Department, Jersey City Fire Department, New York City Police Department, New York City Fire Department, and New Jersey State Police.
Hoboken Police Department is on the waterfront to assist as needed.
It is unclear if there were any injuries or fatalities.
Mayor Eric Adams has been briefed, according to the mayor’s office.
The NTSB told Fox News it is gathering information and will provide updates as they become available.
NYPD officials told Fox News Digital they are not able to provide further details “at this time.”
